children’s & family ministries

At First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, we partner with families to help children grow in faith and experience God’s love.

Each week, children are welcomed into a safe, caring, and engaging environment where they can explore Bible stories, ask questions, and connect their faith to everyday life. Through age-appropriate teaching, hands-on activities, and meaningful relationships, we help children experience God’s love in ways they can understand.

We believe children are an important part of our church family, and we are committed to creating a space where every child feels known, valued, and excited to be here.

Explore our programs below to learn more.

Children are invited to participate in Sunday School during worship, where they’ll explore Bible stories, build friendships, and grow in faith through engaging, age-appropriate activities.

Vacation Bible School

July 12 – August 30

Sundays during worship

This summer, children are invited to a special Sunday morning VBS experience from July 12 through August 30. Following Children’s Time, they’ll take part in a fun, sports-themed program called “Ready, Set, Go!” Each week combines play and faith, centered on Philippians 4:13.

This Month in Children’s Ministry

This month, our Sunday School children are exploring the theme of comfort—learning how God cares for us, is with us in every season, and gives us hope for the future.

Our verse for the month is: "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Families are invited to join us for a special Mother’s Day Breakfast during Sunday School on Mother’s Day. This will be a time to gather, celebrate, and enjoy fellowship together.

Grow with Us

We’d love for your family to be part of our Children’s Ministry.

Each week, children are welcomed into a caring and engaging environment where they can learn about God, build friendships, and grow in faith. Through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and special events, we create meaningful experiences for children and families to connect and grow together.

Whether you’re new or have been visiting for a while, there is a place for your family here. No registration is required—families are always welcome to join us.

If you have any questions or would like to share important information about your child, we’d be happy to connect with you.

Upcoming Special Moments & Activities

Mother’s Day Breakfast

Join us on Sunday, May 10 for a special Mother’s Day breakfast during Sunday School.
Following Children’s Time, families are invited to return to the Sunday School room to enjoy breakfast together.

Youth Sunday Handbells

Children will begin practicing handbells in May as they prepare for our Youth Sunday service on June 28.
This is a fun opportunity for children to share their gifts and be part of worship.

Summer 2026 Family Book Club

Join us as we read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Together, we’ll explore this beloved story of Narnia and reflect on themes of faith, courage, and redemption as a church family.

As children journey alongside Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, they will encounter a world where good and evil are clearly seen, where choices matter, and where hope is restored through the love and sacrifice of Aslan. Through this story, we can begin to understand deeper truths about God’s love, forgiveness, and the promise of new life in ways that are meaningful and accessible for children.

This summer, we invite families to read together, talk together, and grow together in faith as we discover how this classic story helps us see God’s truth in a new and meaningful way.
